It may have ice by the 29th but I doubt it will have safe ice by then.

Very Nice! Looks like the ice will be forming lots of places, with thius cold snap. If it stays around we may get some ice on the other lakes too.

The question of "Safe Ice" is a relative. Have I been fishing on two inches? Yep. Did I fall through? Nope. Did I feel at ease in my mind and have complete confidence that I was not going to fall through? Nope. Would I do it again? Yep. Am I stupid? Maybee, but I must be lucky.

Bring on the ice, bring on the wax worms! My shelter is ready to go, all I needs some ice, and a bunch more fireflies!

I've been duck hunting on Powell Slough by Utah Lake when the ice was only 2 inches thick. I walked out on the ice and hid in the cattails that poked through. A great day of duck hunting, but during the day it warmed just enough to soften the ice. On my way back to the truck I fell through 5 or 6 times. I had on neoprene waders and the water is only like 3 feet deep, plus a foot of gooey mud, so I was safe. It was a difficult and tiring walk back that's for sure!

i walked out on the ice at AFH earlier this year the ice was creaking with every step but it held thank god !
