water levels
#1
I have not lived in Utah for long but have heard stories about a 10 year rotation on drought's to our bodies of water and the amount of snowfall. I would believe fellow fishing people before the news media on this topic. So are we due for some real snow accumulatiopn or is this probably a wish that we all are hoping for!

History shows us that average drought season is about 5 years. That is only speculation but the longest drought season I know was 10 years. If you've been watching the weather they say that same crap every year about the early snow or cold weather but that always seems to change.

I laugh when I hear people talk about how bad last winter was. I can't wait til we have another average winter and it blows them away.

I grew up here and didn't move away until I was 21 then moved back almost 4 years ago. This is the worst i've ever seen it in my life around here but, I know we've had some severe drought years in the past. So far this year's started out better than the last 3 years that i've been back so, let's keep our fingers crossed. I'm not holding my breath tho' [unsure]

Yeah, last year, bad?!?! LOL! [laugh] I'm hoping that this will be the year that just the valley snow is waist deep and you can sled off your own porch again. And yes, I DID walk to school in 3-4' of snow 2 miles up hill both ways! [Tongue]

This better be the year! I can't believe the toll it's taking on everything! I remember fishing at Lost Creek sitting right by the spillway next to that little grove of trees at the top on the west side and the water was right there! Now it's a 200' drop to the water.

Come on snow!! Give us back our lakes, rivers, and streams!! We have some serious fishin' to do!!

Every 10 years sounds about right, the winter of 83/84 was a bad winter(I had 4ft of snow on my roof that winter) in the winter of 92/93 was another bad winter with a massive die off of large numbers of deer. This would be 11 years if we have a good winter(lots of snow) but I guess we will see how it turns out, come on snow. WH2

The winter of 73-74 was bad also the only time I Know of the state shuting down schools, multiple times, ecause of snow. Then 83-84, 92-93. works out to about ten years, for a really big winter, for as long as ive been around.

The national weather service just put out thier long range forcast, doesnt look good this winter. Maybee they will be wrong, but according to them, it doesnt look like its building up to be a strong, long winter.
