Fishing is slow at Henry's which I expected, but did get this 27 incher. Heading off to Yellowstone now as a couple hours of fishing was enough.

[#004080]Nice fish, but I don't agree that fishing was slow. I got there Friday afternoon and fished the opener from my boat trolling. I could not keep fish off and estimate that I caught 50 fish on Saturday and almost an equal amount on Sunday. Several Brookies but mostly 3-4 lb Cuttbows. Some in the 5-6 lb range. All the boats in the middle were catching fish.[/#004080]
[#004080]Between the extreme wind, rain, and the bug hatch, it was a killer weekend. All fish but one were returned to swim again...[/#004080] [signature]

We must have been in the wrong area because everyone we talked to had it just as slow as we did. Between five of us we only caught 18 fish total all weekend. The majority of what I caught was around 12-14" with on being 16 and one being 18'. Seemed like when I put on a new fly I could fool one fish and no more. Change my fly and fool one more fish but none others. Seemed like a pretty slow weekend compared to past years for most of the fisherman I talked to. They other thing that

Nice little fish there! But really - enough fishing? What's that?
Glad you had a good out, nice opener.

That is a nice fish! I was up their on Saturday morning. We launched at the county dock and only had to wait for 12 boats. While we were waiting my dad was talking about all the bank fishersmen right off the dock. He was just telling me that they probably wouldn't catch much and right as he finished his sentence a few guys with flys started catching them. They kept catching them until we launched the boat.
We were trolling and caught about 20 until a fly hatch hit and my brothers neice almost had a meltdown and we had to leave. We fished just under three hours and caught a few brookies, a cutthroat, and several hybrids between 2 and 3 lbs. We lost the big hybrid as it broke off just as we were about to net. Probably 5-6 lbs. When we loaded the boat, the fly fishermen were still catching them off the shore, and we saw several fish on chains from all those fishing off of the shore. We had a good time, and I am taking my wife and two girls on Saturday. Hopefully the fish are still biting. [signature]

I was on shore so I guess I couldn't see you catching all of those big fish way out in the middle. Even at hundreds of feet away from you, from the sounds of all the big fish you caught, I'm suprised I couldn't see all of them ![]() I did see lots of boats/tubers/tooners and shore fisherman in the area I fished for a couple of hours on Saturday and only saw two fish landed. I am sure that more were caught, but I didn't see any. So it was definitely slower than last year in the same area. I also didn't fish the dock area but did hear that some were doing better there. I also only saw a few fish caught on Monday and heard a number of people on boats or other craft mention they had one or none and it was slow. Guess they didn't see you catching any as well. Also looked like the vast majority of boaters picked up and left after Saturday which I am sure was the result of being tired from the hot fishing and not because it was slow for them. I will say that the weather was great and the amount of people out there was fairly minimal compared to other years, so I didn't really care that the fishing was slower for me. But I spent 90% of the weekend in Yellowstone so maybe I just missed the hot fishing. [signature]

I didn't get to go this year, but my buddy I used to fish Henry's with did and he did really well from a boat. All seven in his boat filled their limits of keepers in four hours. Fish ranged from 17" to 25". He sent pictures to rub it in. By the way that was a beauty you caught, I wouldn't mind a slow day if the fish I caught were nice like that. Love Henry's for great fish like that, almost makes it worth the drive. I suspect the slower fishing at Henry's the last few years has cut down the pressure on the opener, that and the ice fishing in the winter reducing fish numbers is probably helping to spread the crowd. Sorry I was guessing on numbers since I didn't see the count this year and heard the large numbers of fish caught through the ice. My bad. J
