Went up to Echo Saturday. The lake is coming up and is about 50% capacity now. The water is clear and still in the low 60's. We started out by the dam, but immediately snagged up on rocks in the 25 ft line. Had to remember to fish farther out to avoid hanging up. By 10:30 the wind started blowing from the south and white caps were everywhere. I have a 21' Bayliner and I couldn't hold it in the gusts and got blown close to shore a few times when the winds hit about 25mph. We had to stop and rescue a wakeboard boat that stalled and was about to get pounded on the rocks. Finally, we got a fish to hit a perch Rapala. My granddaughter, who is 4-years old and and already a seasoned fishergirl, reeled in a nice 18" 'Bow. Only fish of the day, as the winds were getting worse and we decided to leave. Hoping for a better trip in the near future, but it was nice to get out.

Nice to read that you actually got a fish out of Echo. Gonna be a long time before I fish there again. Thanks for sharing!

We usually do pretty well up there all spring/summer. I think it was a combination of weird water levels, changing barometric pressure and the wind. Or maybe just the first outing of the year getting the fishing cobwebs out of the way...

The water level wasn't anywhere near getting up to the spillway, so it's the run-off that will determine levels. The Weber was running pretty strong still, so it may not drop too quickly, unless they hold it back in Rockport. I don't think Echo will be anywhere beyond 56% full, if I remember an article I read recently. Hope it stays stable for a bit. I think the fish are really affected by fluctuating water levels...

they will still be fixing the dam in the fall. they won't fill that lake
back up for another 3 years. has nothing to do with lack of snow pack. ( though we all know other lakes will be suffering from that)
