Double or nothin' - is double rigging worth it?

Okay, I'm increasing my knowledge base when it comes to attractors and ice fishing. Now to really mess things up - do you all double rig and how is it accomplished? Also - one thing that often gets forgotten is to frequently re-tie your lure/hook whenever you fish. I often forget and lose my best working lure, etc. When the fish are chomping on something that works, it's best to resecure it now and then.[] Anyway, what's your stance on double rigging?

i do sometimes ice fishing i rig like a drop shot rig but with a a small tube on bottom ( instead of a sinker ) and a hook on top with another "nose" hooked tube or sometimes no tube just a peice of nightcrawler i have caught fish on both bottom and top just not at the same time yet

[] I certainly think double rigging is woth it for trout and warm water fish such as perch and crappie. If you double rig 2 rods (as permitted in Colorado and on Flaming Gorge - not sure about the rest of Utah) you can rig 4 separate lures and figure out more quickly whether the fish are showing a particular color preference, or whether they prefer marabou jigs over soft plastics, chartreuse instead of white, glow head vs. flo red head, etc.

The only time I don't double rig is when I'm fishing for macks or other really big fish. Then I worry that the extra jig may hang up on the edge of the hole and cause me to lose a fish.
