Ririe Reservoir biting
#1
Just echoing the comments of others that have fished Ririe recently. Put my boat in at 6:00 this evening and got off at dark with limit of Kokanee and partial limit of fat trout. Yes, believe it or not I caught trout in Ririe that were actually fat! One other boat getting off of lake at same time. Both guys had also limits of Koks and their smallest one was about 14 inches, biggest ones were close to 17 inches. We caught our big ones at the 20 to 25 feet deep area. Beautiful warm evening with can you believe it, no wind!
Also, be careful and keep an eye out, there are snakes in the water. We pulled up on a big bull snake swimming across lake and another boat that was getting out at the same time as us showed me a rattler that they had netted and dispatched. Kind of creepy when you see all the people out skiing and boarding already.

Also been up to ririe lately targeting smallmouth. What a kick in the pants! Fun fish to catch. Catching good numbers of bass and a few in the 12-14 inch range. Even caught a trout on a crank bait. Ririe is fishing good!

So the other boater killed a rattlesnake just because it was a rattlesnake ? What did the snake do to deserve being killed ?? Way to respect nature, great lesson for kids... If you don't like something or think its dangerous, kill it. What a tool .

I agree that snakes have their place, but just not while they are swimming in the lake. If the snake I saw in the water was a rattler I would have put him down too. Not just to kill to kill but when you got kids, families, anybody for that matter out playing in the lake, think what could happen if that was your friend or kid that got bit because you did not act to protect others.

Good to hear it is fishing good, may be back for a visit soon and will keep it in mind.

As for killing snakes out of Ririe........get after it you won't put a dent in the population up there. Always see them wake boarding and back when willow creek was worth fishing I would see at least a couple per evening. Never fished that area this time of the year without a handgun. Had a couple close calls with aggressive rattlers.I would be pretty hesitant to fish the shore line this time of year with kids younger than teenagers.

Ya the snakes are thick I killed the one I almost steped on and the guy I fish with eats them and he can have them all latley. There have been more stories of prattlers in the water so I say do use all a favor and get ride of a few

i understand the kill, dont kill method but good god! rattle snakes have no place in the so called "circle of life" if you have ever been to ririe res, ud be killing them and choping heads off left and right. that place is a nesting ground for those things. i supose you are strictly catch and release? no harm in that..... happy fishing

The man had an opinion about the snake just like you do. His just happened to persuade him into dispatching it. I have always smoked the tounge flickers when I've come across them. The way I see it I saved the next fella coming down the trail from a possible nightmare.
