willow beach 6/15/13
#1
[cool]Took my wife, Beth, with me and launched in our tubes before gray and headed upriver. I was in the water for about 12 minutes and Bam! fish on. I was throwing an Optimum made AC plug 7" model. This fish pulled nice and hard and took the drag several times. Finally got him to the net and an11lb 13oz striper is on the stringer! I finally got a DD from willow. We continued to kick up river against little current and took a break at mm53. Between mm53 and mm54, Beth yells that she is hooked up. I kick over and net her 4lb 2oz striper and add to the stringer. She got it on a savage swimbait(thanks Dale). We continue to mm54 and take a much needed break. Out again upriver to the metering house and emerald cave for nada. We start to kick back to the marina when the wind comes up. It blows from the south but the current has kicked in also and the trip back was good but no more fish. Nice to get another fish at willow and especially nice for Beth to finally get one at willow and to end her fishless dry spell.

Excellent! Glad the wife got into one also. Savage has come out with an 8" version now also, although I heard the ROF is really fast on it so it's an open water bait for sure.

You can't beat the price, you can buy several Savage for the price of one Hud and they seem to perform just as well.

[cool]Thanks guys. It was nice to get fish back to back at willow. And very nice for Beth to connect with one. She hasn't had the luck lately but paid her dues and got one at willow where she has never connected. We can't wait to go again. May go to mead next in hopes of some slurping or boiling stripers. Good luck guys.
