Echo/Rockport?

so my dad bought into camper world up by echo. want to take the kids fishing from the shore for some trout action at Echo or Rockport but haven't heard any reports lately. to be honest I've only ever iced fish both of them and wondered where might have a decent spot to fish from the shore? I could bring up a boat if needed but wasn't planning on it. PM me if you'd like. Thanks!

Rockport by the dam is a great spot for trout..I usually fish off the dam itself, or walk to the right and fish the rocky structure below the highway. Both spots offer access to deeper water. Most of the catches are rainbows, but an occasional brown will show up as they like the steep banks next to deep water..

Not sure how well you will do this time of year though..I only fish Rockport in the early spring, but as a mid elevation lake Rockport warms up pretty fast and it doesn't take long for the trout to head for deeper water. But you can also target some smallmouth or perch if they are close to the shore. If you really want trout, try fishing close to the deeper water and throw some PB or a worm and marshmallow floating off the bottom.
