I finally got an open spot for Bassert today on my boat. We have been trying to get together ever since he got back from Florida and it happened today. We hit some bluff spots and some docks and found crappie on each. Some crappie were shallow over deep water, but others were deep. The later in the day, the deeper the fish seemed to be.

Of course, we both used Bobby Garland plastics on 1/16 oz heads mostly. Current was greater today than it has been for a few days, hence the larger jig heads. Any color seemed to work as long as it had a chartreuse tail on it. We used slab slayers and minnow minders to catch our fish.

We caught 29 keepers and we didn't keep up with the throw back crappie, but the keeper ratio was much better than the throw backs. I'm guessing 15 throw back crappie. I also landed 1 spotted bass. No other species caught. All fish released to grow up. The largest that we measured was 12.5, but a couple more were at least that big if not 13".

We fished from 9:30 til 1:30 and boy did it ever get hot. We took one pic of the fish and Pat's finger. The ugly filter on my camera would not allow any more pics. emoBig emoGeezer
