drumking, Tims Ford, Cherokee bass, 03 July 2013, Bent Rod
#1
Old Bent Rod lived up to his name sakes today. We were Walleye fishing but we both suck at that. But, Rick did manage to land this nice 5 to 6 lb Cherokee bass (Hybrid) and a keeper largemouth while I was landing both a hybrid and a yellow bass, and each was under 10 lbs. emoPoke emoBigSmile Actually, my lure was as big as both of the fish that I landed, but I did have a thrill when a big fish, probably a Cherokee bass slammed my lure with about 15 feet of line out, knocked my hand off the reel, hurt my thumb, and pulled off, almost in the same motion. emoBang

We fished shallow and deep and somewhere in between and it didn't make any difference. The day started off with just a little rain, not much, just a slow drizzle and after an hour to hour and 1/2, it quit and we saw some sun before we stopped fishing. Water looked like a mirror and it was sort of clear. Cool temps, but the water temp was over 80 degrees. I brought the hybrid and the largemouth home with me. They have a date with Crisco and coconut. emoBigSmile

Thanks for inviting me over this morning, Rick. I had a great time even though the fish were some other place. That's fishing. This is definitely my last report for about a week. emoBigSmile emoGeezer
