Ice Pike Porn!
#1
There seems to be a lack of Pike Ice Fishing Porn.

In Utah we don't have that many pike waters. There are about 4 lakes, 2 rivers, and a few rumored spots where they are not supposed to be. Worse yet with the waters being in more of a southern location the majority of the places do not even freeze and the ones that can freeze do not necessarily freeze every year.

This year Yuba was the place to be for Utah Ice Pike fishing.

My 1st pike thru the ice!

Correct me if I am wrong but don't you catch pike under the ice too?

to be honest, most of my pike fishing is from under the ice. I spend little time targeting them on open water, tho I have caught my share on open water as well.

wax worms work great. [laugh] they do... I loose a lot of panfish jigs that way.[:p]

that is not how I target pike.

I am alowed to use live bait here in michigan. how ever dead minnows work great as well. those pickled berkley fake shads will also work.

I like to use a combination of rigs. depends on how much work I am willing to do that day.

here is a few photos of my ice pike [#0000ff]Fishing Rigs[/#0000ff]. they all work equaly well. You can go though my album to see if you can pick up on any ideas of your own.

as for terminal hookups. I use 3/4 in trebble hook for my set lines and tipups. get a good quality steel hook. 40lb or better black or green braded line on your tipups. I use 8 lb on my set lines but I do use steel leaders on all my setups.

I use this becon at night. It keeps snowmobiles and what nots from running over my tipups. all it is ... a peice of 3inch pvc tube about 24 inches in lenth and a self adheasive caution reflector sticker.
