Cleaning spinners
#1
I've been playing around this weekend and discovered about 30 mepps trout spinners in a vest I never wear. Most of you probably have spinners that are so tarnished that you have thought about throwing them away. So I figured if my tumbler cleaned my rifle brass, then why not a spinner? Tossed em all in and 24 hours later...... New spinners! Those of you who reload or know someone with a tumbler give it a shot. [fishon]

Good idea Mike, thanks for sharing it. Do you have any before and after pics?

Unfortunately I would only be able to do after pics. But any one who has old brass or copper spinners knows what they look like after a while. The ones coming out are just as shiny as new.

Good idea, I have a few of those that need some polishing. Thanks. J

What media are you using? I've picked up a couple old spinners and kastmasters and did the same thing. Most of them shined up nicely, but two of the kastmasters didn't do much. I've got corn-cob but I need to get some walnut and try that.

[#0000FF]There are several products on the market that remove tarnish from almost any metal.

But the best thing for Kastmasters is to apply some scale finish prism tape...and stick-on eyes. I do that to a lot of my spoons before I even use them. Gives them more zing. Works on spinner blades too. Just use a small pair of scissors to cut as close as possible to the outline. Then trim with a razor blade when it is stuck in place.
