Second Biggest Channel Cat for me before school
#1
I start another semester of college on monday so I wanted to get a big one before then cause I'm going to be more busy now. My normal spots haven't been doing well lately so I tried a random spot i've never tried just along the trail. Lucky I caught this guy and tape measured 27 inches easily and probably 28 or 29 if I would have stretched him out. I caught him and a dinky 13 inch one and then some lady didn't have her dog on a leash and it jumped in the water and swam and ever since then the fishing sucked.

Thanks. The good news is I won't have to commute all the way to the actually U this year, so I should have a little more time. I'm definitely not an elite catfish catcher like some guys on here but I've gotten a lot better at it this year so hopefully I can get me some when I have time.

It's great to have a hobby that you can keep getting better at as you go. Good luck with your studies. Later J

Nice going. Cool to end on a good note before starting back to school.

The one thing I've learned about catfishing the past few years, is once you have a location, or pattern, or timing that seems to work, you can go back tomorrow, do the same thing, and get nothing!

BUT other times it can be fun to build some confidence that you CAN get into a repeatable pattern.

Thought for a minute there you were gonna tell us that dog went "Sparky" on ya, and tried to steal you cat!

Yeah it's very tricky...the Biggest catfish I caught this year was 30 inches and I actually caught him on worms at like 2 p.m while trying to catch me some bait! I never fish the same spots all the time because it seems to me based on success at certain spots that the fish travel up and down the river mostly in large schools. I was so mad when that persons dog swam where I was fishing! Was starting to get into the zone and he had to do that...[:/]

Amen to that. I thought I had a cat "hot spot" nailed down that had been producing well all summer - and then the last 2 weeks hardly anything. I've put in plenty of hours trying to nail down a "pattern" this season, quite the learning curve, hopefully next year it will pay off. It's all worth it when I catch one again.
