Sturgeon Info

[cool]Found an interesting webpage on white sturgeon, including a picture of a 1500 pound fish caught near Payette, Idaho. It is estimated this was about 1911. Doesn't look like Kent.

Maybe it's not Kent, but I wouldn't be surprised if it were an older brother. [Wink] JK.

You are both wrong, it is my grandpa! Because I am so humble I didn't post the picture myself.

[cool]Shoulda recognized the family resemblance...and the hat. I guess I was distracted by the size of the fish.

Too bad the success gene didn't travel down the family tree. Although one that size may not live in today's rivers, it would have to be released...even if it could be landed. Thankfully there are both state and national protective measures in place to insure the survival of this long-lived and slow-reproducing fish.

As I am sure you will agree, Junior, it is not only the size of those fish that makes them such an attraction. They are a fascinating "dinosaur" among fishes. It is a unique experience just to bring one in, of any size, and to witness their beautiful homeliness.

Be careful -- one man's homeliness is another man's sister!

Pretty cool pitcher; I was wondering if there is a web page with a color picture of a Sturgeon, I'd like to see what they look like, and the average size CPR today, as well as what waters they are found in today. Any in Utah, or any still in Idaho?
