Baitballs

Although the website I present has a product to sell, I present it mainly to inspire discussion on the information and video that inspires thought on the intriguing aspects of baitballs, why they form, the dynamics of them being scrambled and reforming and of course how to fish them.

Baitballs are still a mystery to me because it seems to me like it makes it easier for big fish to eat them. I'm missing something, but it must be true that it helps or nature wouldn't be performing that trick.

It also inspires thought of products and the ones shown intrigue me.

I've used their crawfish lures with success when the less detailed ones of other manufacturers were not productive and that impressed me, so I tend to trust they get their research and development right.

Bait balls are a form of protection for the preyfish. By forming up into a compact ball, the predator is presented with a large mass that prevents them from singling out anyone particular baitfish to attack. The ball is constantly moving, changing direction, presenting a indiscriminate mass to attack. What will usually happen wil be the predator will attack the ball to break it up, causing some preyfish to be segregated so that they can be attacked while the rest of the ball will swim away.
