What if... Newton?
#1
Saw Newton. It looks a little low. Haha.

I was thinking that now would be an EXCELLENT time to build some artificial fish habitat and stage it in the reservoir.

What kind of rules/restrictions are there on that kind of thing?

WHAT would be the point of spending any time or money to improve the fishery aspect of newton??? dnr Spent all this money on those toothy critters only to watch them all die due to low water. If im not mistaken this has happened before. if they cant control how much the farmers pull then this will happen again and again. so why invest anything into it, knowing you will be starting over in a few years?

IS it empty yet??

I'm not familiar with Cutler. I love fishing up at Newton. I love camping overnight and fishing in the morning (no charge). Where else can you do that and catch Perch? Does Cutler have Perch?

Sorry, but Newton Res is a more complicated equation that a perch pool.

I've hear rumor there are/have been perch in Cutler. Don't think they'd be a bad forage option to be encouraged. Rather catch a load of perch than mudcats myself! Course - I'm a fan of the idea of White Bass in Cutler. SO similar to Utah Lake.

I also favor the notion of moving Musky, or introducing into Cutler/Bear. I think they'd be very happy there, very hard to find, and lead to some proud angler moments.
Especially if we had a viable breeding program that protected the breed stock suitably! (woops!).

But I only have an opinion, not like I'm a biologist or something.

Most people know of cutler as benson, because the benson marina is the main boat ramp on Cutler Reservoir. Newton's outlet, along with every other river in cache valley flow into cutler. There are perch in cutler as well as every other species of fish found in cache valley. But your likely catches are carp and bull head.
