RAC meeting in SLC for 2014 Fishing Regs
#1
In July and August, there was a lot of discussion here about RAC meeting locations. With your input in mind, we've decided to hold September's Central Region RAC meeting in Salt Lake City. That is the meeting that will focus on fishing regulations for 2014. It will be held in the main Department of Natural Resources building (1594 W. North Temple, Salt Lake City) on Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Many of you indicated that you'd be much more likely to attend a RAC meeting held in the Salt Lake Valley, and we're willing to give it a try. If attendance is strong at this meeting, we may consider moving more of the meetings to the Salt Lake Valley. If you want to weigh in on Utah's 2014 fishing regulations, please make time to attend your nearest RAC meeting. If you can't come to one of the meetings, please email your local RAC members.

Being on a tuesday I may be able to attend. The only thing that will get in the way is work. Like today, one late train and all bets are off.

I don't know if it helps, albinotrout, but TRAX (Green Line) runs right in front of the DNR building, and there's a stop that's easily within walking distance.

Thanks again to all of you who are planning to come or send feedback!

Amy, it was good of the DWR to move a meeting back to SLC.
The real question will be how many people will come to the meeting now that it is closer for them. My guess is that you will not see many more people showing up than in the past.

We all like to talk and complain but few of us actually get off our butts and do something.
I really hope that I am wrong on this one though.

I hope you're wrong too, DKStroutfitter. I know that attending these meetings requires some time and effort, but it's also a great chance to have a voice in the rule-making process.

For those of you who haven't looked at the proposals for the 2014 fishing regulations, take a few minutes and check them out. I know there will be some items of interest. (The PowerPoint slides in the middle of the PDF will be the official RAC presentation.) Here's the link: http://go.usa.gov/Dr6H

Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to attend a RAC meeting or send their feedback about the 2014 fishing regulations.

I just wanted to post a quick reminder that the Salt Lake meeting is next Tuesday night (Sept. 17) at 6:30 p.m. We're really hoping for a good turnout from anglers across the Wasatch Front!

Yep, I'm going to be a squeaky wheel one last time. [Wink]

Many thanks to all of you who are planning to come to tonight's meeting. (For those who somehow missed the earlier posts, it's tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the Department of Natural Resources building, which is at 1594 W. North Temple in Salt Lake City.)

Action items will include spearfishing, a possible two-day possession limit, carp disposal and a handful of region-specific proposals. There will also be informational items about the Millcreek cutthroat trout restoration project, the new management plan for Yuba and a recent study at Scofield. Here's a link to the proposal packet: http://go.usa.gov/Dr6H

I spoke to one of our fisheries coordinators yesterday, and he mentioned that RAC attendance so far has been almost nonexistent. Apparently, there were 4 members of the public who came to the Richfield meeting, 0 people at the Green River meeting and 1 person at the Vernal meeting. I'm not sure how many people have emailed comments to the RAC chairs.

If you can't come to tonight's meeting, you're welcome to email your comments or attend the last RAC meeting tomorrow night at 6 p.m. in Brigham City. Thanks again!
