Uintas 9-21-13
#1
Got to Trial around 8:30 and hooked up with 7 Tigers right off the bat with a Zonker. Got bored so decided to go exploring. Ended up at a little pond and found three different fish in it...brooks, tigers and grayling. Snuck up on the Grayling and landed him in on a size 16 Royal Wulff. Walked around to the other side and caught a purty, fat, colorful brookie on the Wulff. Hiked out and up to Wall Lake and went to the side where the cliffs begin. Caught a REALLY nice tiger on a BH Bunny Leech, he went about 16" and fat. Hiked down to Washington and was surprised that its not as low as it was last year. Couple casts no fish...left. Went back to Trial and nailed them on TD Hot Heads, BH Bunny Leech, Mohair Leeches, and of course the Zonkers. Ended the day with about 50+ fish. Hard as hell to back cast with the wind so I got really intimate with the roll cast. All in all...one hell of a fun day!

P.S. GO UTES!!!!!

What happened to getting a picture of a 16" tiger and the colorful grayling [laugh]. Did you fill up your memory card with the picture of the lakes instead [laugh]???

Well I was going to take a picture of the grayling but he flipped back into the water[:/]
And I felt like I had the tiger out too long so I just put him back in. Trying to set up a shot for the contest is a pain in the butt...I'd rather just put them back right away.

Solid work! I still haven't hit the Uintas once this summer... Hopefully before the show hits. After the slow day I had on the Provo Saturday I need it!

Before the show hits? I assume you mean snow. You better hurry Summer ended during the weekend. I saw on the weather forecast 4-6 inches predicted at 9,000 - 10,000 ft in a couple days. Tomorrow is the warm before the storm and I have 8 hours free so I'll probable head up.

Yeah, a 2 man team sure helps get them in the contest and back in the water fast.

Amazing nobody on the ice fishing contest's in the past have complained about the measuring process.

Changes will be made next year if the fly contest runs again. Maybe a list of approved fish measuring boards? I use mine to quickly determine if the rest of the process is worth it.

I can't belive I have not been to the Uintas this year.[frown]

P.S. Hurray for SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
