Too late for crappie/bluegill?

I spend the majority of my fishing in alpine lakes during the warmer months. And usually, by this time of year, I'm more concentrating on hunting than fishing. So pardon what may be a dumb question, but...

Is it too late in the fall right now to really go after crappie and/or bluegill? Down around, say, CJ or the lakes at Bruneau Dunes? Is there a magic number for water temperature at which these species sorta go dormant?

now should be a great time to find them. i love fishing for panfish in the fall. sunfish are trying to put on the pounds right now before winter. it can be just as good this time of year as it is in the spring.

Panfish bite all year round. The main challenge is finding the active fish since they tend to roam around a lot except in spring when they come in shallow to spawn.

Yes they go deep. Use your electronics and when the water cools slow your presentation. Dead stick works well, just a hint...
