I am working on a new project up in the Avenues and as I came around where city creek canyon road shoots off, I saw those ponds on either side of the road. I have stopped there a few times now on my lunch break and after work with limited success. Nothing huge in there that I can see but it's a nice diversion on my way home. Any tips on what might work well here? I have been there when they are rising but they don't really seem interested in what I throw to them. An olive bodied elk hair caddis convinced one to come to shore but I'm starting to think it was a fluke.

I have better luck with nymphs this time of year. If you're going to throw dries try some smaller midge patterns. I drive that way several times a week. Last week I saw 3 fish feeding from the surface in the lower pool in the few seconds it took to round the corner.

you should totally fish city creek. inside the mall. I did not see any No Fishing signs when I was there, and it should be public access. once you have limited out go snag yourself a piece of cheese cake, you earned it

Be a good place to fish in the winter. No icing up of guides. Have any of the fish reached any size in there. Do you suppose it's all C&R?
A picture of someone fishing there would be great for your redneckff blog.

The pond in Memory Grove holds some fish in there same with the two farther up creek. I've had luck on ants, beetles and stimulators during the summer months. Those browns and cutts get pretty aggressive in there, I would take the chance and throw a little streamer at them like maybe a small Mickey Finn. City Creek can be fun to fish if you don't run into those riverdogs.

I think we all have entertained the thought in our minds. The cheesecake comment was brilliant. catching a fish in the middle of a shopping mall is a hero move for sure. But i'm sure not the hero. I can't even keep my fly out of the trees, let alone a $150 pair of jeans on the rack behind me. I will however say this: To the first guy (or gal) to hook up in the mall, cheesecake is on me.
