Muskrat, Chickamauga Lake, crappie / TARP white / mix, 10-29-13, Debbie
#1
Some good action on the "Chick" today. Deb and I caught 23 crappie...5 yellow bass...3 white bass...1 channel cat...1 blue cat. We fished from 11:15 am until almost 3:30. We fished our favorite rocky points and ended up back in the bay. We just aren't finding many fish at all at our old "sweet" spots. I caught a TARP white crappie and my largest white bass this year. The white crappie was my third largest white crappie this year I think. Deb had a double on her "double-trouble" rig. She also doubled-up Sunday. What a hoot ! We used 1/16 oz. white Road Runner jig heads with mostly Bobby Garland jigs and we had about a dozen minnows left from Sunday. We stayed close to balls of baitfish and would cast our jigs as best we could right in the middle of them. A lot of baitfish near the surface today. I caught the TARP on a BG Junebug Pearl / Chartreuse Slab Slayer and Deb's double came on a Ghastly Minnow Scent Wiggl'r on top and a "minner" on the bottom. It's been a good combo for us in the past. It was on another rod we had out and she got to it first so she claimed the double. The white TARP was just a bit over 14 inches which I was surprised about as it had some "big shoulders" on it. I thought it would have been a little longer. I wish I could have got a weight. The best black crappie was a little over 13 inches on Deb's double. Most of the fish were caught in 15-20 feet of water. Water temperature was 64 degrees. Some "high-fives" and fist pumps for us today. Thanks for another good fishing trip Chickamauga Lake - it's more fun than we deserve.
