11/2 <br /><br />I drove up to Smyrna and went to fish with my father in law on Saturday at Percy Priest lake. I was pretty excited b/c we had done pretty good the last few times I had been. We started off back up in a creek when we got there and the first bank we fished He caught a 14 in Lm and I went on to catch 3 Lm all 11-12 inchers and an 8lb channel cat that put up a Mean fight all on crank baits. We hit a few more spots and got nothing so we decided to go try the main lake for the possibility of a smallie. We ran over to the first of two points we were going to hit and Mike hooked a 16in smallie on a crankbait. We went on to catch a couple more slicks and went over to the second point and caught 3 more decent Lm. We hit one more bank and the wind kicked up so we decided to head home. We didn't catch very much size this time but we had a blast.<br /><br />11/4<br /><br />I got back from Percy Priest on Monday and decided to go out to Hiawassee part of chick for a couple hours till the sun went down. I put the boat in, trolled out away from the ramp and threw a shakey head back to the dock and caught 2 small Lm on back to back cast sitting beside the dock. So then I took off to my first spot which was a shallow flat with rocks that I love to crank and caught a 13 and 14 in Lm there. Second spot I hit was a laydown. I pitched a Texas rig over to the laydown and as soon as it came over a branch I felt a tick and I pulled up a 4lber. It was a fatty! I noticed it had a shad down in its throat and I pulled it out and that sucker was 8 in long. They are definitely starting to feed. I left and ran over to another flat that has not been very good lately but any day could produce a limit. The wind was perfect and coming out of the south so I decided to stay with the crankbait and I couldn't catch a thing. I hit that spot for about 25 min. and decided to move. As soon as I sit down I see a some bass going nuts on the shad and baitfish were suddenly all over the depth finder. I jumped up and grabbed the crankin rod and caught two more Lm on back to back casts both of which just short of being keepers. Threw a few more times to that spot and nothing. They started busting again about 20 ft away so I threw the to them and caught 2 more short fish. I decided to pull out my kvd sexy dog top water (which I consider easier to walk the dog than a Zara spook). I threw a couple times and wham I caught one that was just under 3lbs. A couple casts later I caught another 15inch keeper. The action was short lived but a ton of fun. At this point it started getting cold and I had forgotten that the sun went down an hour earlier so I decided to head on home. I only got to fish for two hours but had a good day. I posted a few pics from this trip but we didn't take any on the percy priest trip b/c my father in law doesn't like taking the time for pics lol
