Had a funeral to get to, but we wanted to get out a bit. So we hit the water at 8 and were off by 11:30 or so.

Before we got moving, Jeff had to get in the water up to his shins. Left that brace thing on the engine that keeps from stressing the transom. Good start, eh? I asked if he still wanted to go. He said, "Well, if you're not gonna be smart, you gotta be tough."

Started the engine and started putting out to the main lake. Then...it died. Tried starting over and over. Nothing.

So we trolled to the middle of the lake and fished around.

Right away, he got a little hybrid or white bass. Not sure. It was maybe 15 or 16 inches.

Fast forward a bit.

I fished little crappie jigs the whole time. Wound up catching 5 or 6 of those little yellow bass, a catfish, and a good-sized fish that Jeff thought was a skipjack. I saw he thought because that thing jumped like crazy and when I was pulling it into the boat, the line snapped. So yes, I should have netted it. Oh well.

Jeff fished a few different things but wound up catching most on a crappie set-up. Got some of those yellow bass also and the bass pictured. Weird day but fun.
