The Michigan Natural Resources Commission (NRC) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 13, at the MSU Diagnostic Center for Population and Animal Health, 4125 Beaumont Road, Lansing.
The day begins with a work session of the Michigan State Parks Advisory Committee at 8:30 a.m., followed by the committee's regular meeting at 11 a.m.
At 1 p.m., the Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries will receive updates on Fisheries and Wildlife divisions' activities, review proposed early season waterfowl regulations, receive the 2012 deer harvest survey report and hear proposed antlerless license quotas, and receive an update on antler point restrictions. The committee will also review changes to regulations that benefit disabled veterans and other hunters with disabilities.
The Committee of the Whole meeting begins at 3:15 p.m. with Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Director Keith Creagh's report, followed by a discussion of the fish orders process. It will be followed by a legislative update. Pheasants Forever and the Wildlife Division will present a recognition to partners implementing the Pheasant Restoration Initiative in the vicinity of the Lake Hudson Recreation Area.
At 4:30 p.m., John Woollam will receive a Partners in Conservation Award.
Immediately following the Committee of the Whole, the NRC will hear comments from the public. Those wishing to make public comments before the NRC should contact Deb Whipple, executive assistant to the NRC, at 517-373-2352 or whippled1@michigan.gov to register.
Following public comments, the NRC is scheduled to officially rename the Hart-Montague Trail State Park, enact furbearer regulations, announce deer management unit boundaries and open/closed antlerless deer management units, and decide on a proposal to enact antler point restrictions in the northwest Lower Peninsula.
There are two land acquisitions and one sale of surplus land scheduled for Director Creagh's action.
