Electric Lake Access
#1
So, I'm guessing that trying to access E lake during winter without snowmobiles is a horrible idea. Am I right? Has anyone tried to "walk in" from the north parking lot? I am entertaining the idea of making that trek but I need someone to tell me its a horrible idea so I won't go through with it.

The alternative to E lake would be easy access at Scofield. I'm figuring it's one of those "high risk, high reward" type ventures.

Been in there the last two weekends on snow machines. There was about waist deep snow down to the lake in spots. Got the machines stuck a couple of times , but was still glad I wasn't making the trek on foot. You have to park on the road on the north side because they use the entrance as a plow turn around and it's blocked by a large snow bank. That said, there was one brave soul who made the hike down the first weekend I was there. I didn't envy him.

If you are going to walk in I would suggest walking in on the south end. Walk across the dam and down the east side. Done it several times and it is a challenge hiking back up that hill but doable and a much shorter hike.

Well crap...now I have a decision to make! Hopefully after burning 1000+ calories trekking to the lake I will be rewarded for my hard work!

I may be there tomorrow. If I am I'm happy to give you a lift to/from the ice.

Yes, please do. If, while flying around on your sled, you see a lowly fisherman trying to climb back up a mountain hauling a crap load of gear, help a brother out!

I always do! If I go to E-Lake I park at the north end.
