The day started out great as we traveled by snowmobile from the marina to Renegade Point. Drilled a few holes in 20-30 FOW and hoped for the best.
Marked one fish after a few minutes and didn't see anything else, so we moved further east and drilled some more holes ranging from 15' to 30'.
My brother dropped his line in the 15' hole and immediately had a fish on, so we setup and again hoped for the best. Well, short version of the day is was slow after the first Rainbow. We had plenty come through, but they weren't interested in anything. We iced 6 fish before we had to leave at 2pm.
All in all, it was a slow day, but always good to be out on the ice!

May have been a slow day but at least there was a fish involved. Thanks for the report.

We left the marina at about 2 PM to go out. I was wondering if it was you and your brother that we talked to as you guys were loading up and we were leaving. I was in a camo coat, and we had two older snowmobiles hauling two teenage boys and two adults....

We were over there for the afternoon and part of the evening. We got set up about 230 and left about 815. I caught a koke through the ice, which I haven't done for like 7-8 years.
Also caught 2 23" cutthroat. One while the sun was up (in 15 ft of water right on the bottom), and a second in the tent after dark (in 20 ft of water).
From about 645 to 745 it was some of the fasted fishing I have seen in a while. Four of us in the Fatfish 6 were catching fish every drop. We must have had a huge school under us. We were unhooking 3-4 fish at a time in the tent for about an hour. It was a feeding frenzy. Then the school disappeared, and we were left catching singles till we left.

It was pretty good till dark, and then it was awesome for an hour and then it slowed off and we left. It was nice to meet you guys. Thanks for asking about the ice conditions on the forum. We had been over there before via the road, and it sure was nice to head across on the ice directly. Saved us quite a bit of time.

That's awesome you guys did so well. I've had those kind of days, but I usually fish the SC side of the lake to find that kind of action. I still need to fish the Renegade area a little more in order become more familiar with it. Where did you end up setting up?

My wife and I drove up this morning expecting to have a great day again at Renegade, but alas, I forgot the snowmobile key. Needless to say we were not going to walk, so we went over to chicken creek east and took the hike. It sucked. Worst day so far this year. I iced 2, my wife hooked 3 but iced none. Everyone around us was busy moving and drilling holes all morning. I am sure it sucked for them also. We got bored with the "non stop" non action and left at 11 am.
I wanted to go over to the channel at Renegade and try that area... but it was not to be. Next time.
