Gorge Ice Conditions North of Buckboard
#1
Happy New Years BFTers!

Just wondering if anyone has found ice around confluence or lost dog yet this year? We drove up from Ogden last weekend and fished in the bay at Buckboard and landed 16 burbot. There was about 8" of ice there, but there was open water just beyond the boat ramp.

I don't have a ton of experience with burbot, but I've been told that the areas just to the north are prime time. We'd like to get up there, but don't want to waste the drive if there's no ice yet. Last weekend was my first time on the gorge, so I don't know how she behaves this time of year.

Thanks for any info you can provide. I'll report back here with a report on Sunday!

We fished it last weekend. There is good ice at Lost Dog and the Blacks Fork arm (9-10"). Firehole has about 18" of ice.

Thanks buddy! I'll have to talk it over with the gang. What's the best way to get into lost dog? Can I come in from the west off the highway out of Manila and get on the ice there? It looks like there are a few trails that dump out right there at the confluence.

We've got a couple rooms at a motel in Manila, so that's the way we'll have to drop in. Thanks fellas.
