Strawberry 1/1/14

Decent day at the Berry, thanks for everyones input and advice. For somereason I thought no one else would have the brilliant idea to go ice fishing on new years day. I was mistaken.

While I was waiting for my group to arrive a put in straight out from the Strawberry Bay boat ramp at about 50' of water. I was able to land two at 15-20' deep on a white curly rail jis with meal worm in about a half an hour. Nothing special, two slender slot cutts.

When my group arrived they wanted to make the trip over toward Haws point. Because I have never moved form an area where Im already catching fish, I was skeptical and hesitant but finally conceded to the majority.

We put in at about 25-30' water and had fair success (not as good as the boat ramp). It took 6 more hours to land 2 bows and 2 cutts, but I was just happy to be out.

All in all it was a good day. Best fish form the group was a 20" cutt. I cant imagine seeing something bigger than the slot come through the hole. It would be pretty amazing. All health good looking fish.

I will be back up to the berry soon to see if I can bust that slot. Wish me luck.

Nice report, nothing like a little fun on the ice whether it's slow or fast.
