I haven't heard one good report on magic. The ice is good, but fishing is slow.

I am wondering if the big drain off this summer did more damage than anyone is saying. Last winter that lake was lights out. Maybe it got so low it killed off a bunch.

[#000000][size 2]Magic is a put and take fishery. Try checking the stocking reports for Magic. You'll see that they did stock nearly as many fish in there as they have in the past.[/size][/#000000]

I think it has more to do with all the sewer from "the valley". The gravel at the west side used to be full of shrimp, now it looks dead.

What ever you say. [crazy][shocked][crazy][Image: beaten.gif]

I'm just saying, 500000+ fish per year prior to 2012, only~250000 per year since.

Go ahead and take a look.

Same thing at Walcott, what are the birds gonna eat if they don't plant trout.

I've been out there 3 times in the last week and a half. I'm talking.. a good day there was only 4 fish. Yesterday decided against Magic and went to a different lake. Caught several different species of fish and it was none stop action. Sure needed a day like that too, going to magic and not catching much was starting to make me question my fishing ability.

Wow, that's a pretty big difference.
I was curious about the fishing and the stocking programs here. Do they strictly plant Kamloops here? Why haven't the fish populations exploded here from natural spawning? I mean they plant tens of thousands. In Montana, they do stock but the purpose is so the fishery blooms on its own. That many fisherman here take from the lakes?

The wife and I headed to the east side of magic. Fishing was slow. Fished from 11am to 3pm. Everyone out there were not catching much. We happened to catch a couple 14 " bows, but not a single perch. It was a great day to be out on the lake then be at home. Hopefully the fishing picks up or hopefully we get some good cold weather so I can feel safe out on cj so I can get another crack at them perch.

I believe most of what is planted in Magic is a Triploid strain from Haysper hatchery which I am led to believe are a sterile fish so no reproduction
