How would one go about to do this cisco thing? Do you do it from shore wading or boat? Do you use a fishing pole or a net them? I am new to this part of the state and have never done anything like this before and it looks like fun. How does one prepare cisco for eating? Any info would be appreciated thanks.

Cisco can be dip netted. So if you go over to Cisco beach on the east side of Bear Lake at first light and wade out about waist deep and watch carefully the fish will come in for you to take a stab at netting. Long handles are nice. You can also take a boat out on Gus Riches nob and snag Cisco 40' down. Personally that is the most fun way to catch them. Most of the time I use them for bait, but I have cooked them up before and I thought they were ok. I just didn't like the bones and small fish. Kids love Cisco. Have fun. J

Everyone has a different way of going about catching these cisco. Mine is to stay in close to shore and not out deeper than knee high. I usually don't have to get wet when I catch my cisco. I use all of my cisco as bait (only legal to use on Bear Lake) and also as scent. I keep a lot of details about Bear Lake on my webpage so just google search it as fishingbearlake -
Good luck to you if you decide to come and try it out. We are having a Cisco Disco this coming Saturday and if you want to taste these little fish they will be available there...CISCO BEACH.
