Where to get prescription polarized glasses near Boise?

I updated my prescription a couple months ago and got new glasses. Unfortunately, the fitovers I was using do not fit my new frames. I want the wraparound style that blocks as much ambient light from under and around the lenses as possible. I got my new glasses from Costco, and they have the exact style frame I want... but it's not available in a prescription lens.

I know you can get glasses cheaper online, but I don't want to go that route. I'll be paying out of pocket, and if I'm going to spend several hundred dollars on frames and lenses, I'm going to get exactly what I want. That means trying them on, seeing how they look, checking the amount of ambient light they admit, having them adjusted to fit my face and so on.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can go that has a good selection of sports/fishing frames and won't give me grief about getting my prescription elsewhere?

I dont live in Boise, but here in Ogden I found Walmart has a nice selection. Give them a try.

Try Shopko, at Fairview & Milwaukee. I used to go to him when I was in Boise (been about 5 years, can't remember his name. I doubt if he's retired yet though!), great eye doctor, and a fair selection of sunglasses that can take prescription lenses.

I would go to any specialty sunglass store or even many optometrist shops that carries Costa del Mar, Maui Jim, Oakley, or other great sunglasses with premier lenses. Heck, your specialty high end fly shops will have them. They are available in prescription. Find the frames you like then order from there or online. That lets you try on more frames and lens colors and types than you can shake a stick at and their warranties are great. By the time it is said and done the cost isn't much more if any. With that said, I actually just got a pair I really like at Sears on some stock frame I like but was still in over $300. I do know tho that they do not beat my Costas or Mauis or Oakleys for lens quality but got them anyways. I thought it was about time to finally get a prescription pair of shades after more than 30 years of contacts and shades.

I have a pair of WileyX from the Eye Site in Meridian and a pair of Maui Jims from advanced eye care in Nampa.

They are both fantastic (but very spendy!)

Both are polarized, prescription bi-focal. The Wiley's are a wrap but keep in mind not all prescriptions can be done in a wrap.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. I don't have glaucoma or astigmatism, I'm just nearsighted (but one eye is much worse than the other). I guess I'm fortunate that I don't have a weird prescription or need bifocals (yet).

I like some of the Costa del Mar models, but I checked their web site and they don't have a single prescription dealer in the area. Maui Jim and Wiley X both have a few, so I will look around. I just don't want to order online because I've had glasses in the past where the lab ground the lenses to the wrong spec, and I don't want to go through that with an online store where the wait would be even longer.

I went to Eyemart just because I saw it on the way home and found a pair I liked:



The lenses aren't curved, but they pop out so I can get different tints for different lighting conditions. They did quote me a price of around $220 for the frames and polarized lenses, so I'm really tempted but I still want to compare others before I buy.
