I decided to give Deer Creek a good hard run the past few days starting last Friday.
I wanted to fish Rainbow Bay and set up in 12-20 feet of water close to the shore. I threw everything at them i.e. Ratfinkees (all colors) Ratsos, gizzy bugs, Jigging rapalas, curly tailed grubs, Maniac Cutter bug, paddle bugs, etc. Tipped with waxies, shrimp, and meal worms.
I was on the water by 10:30 and found the only color they wanted was white tipped with a meal worm. I landed 8 decent rainbows by 3:30. Not a bad day on DC.
On Saturday I headed out with a couple of buddies to the west shoreline. We were in our holes by 7:30 and I quickly landed a couple of bows. My buddies tried to throw different colors at em but it didnt matter. Every fish we caught that day was on a white grub, tube, or cutter bug tipped with a meal worm. We did get some bites on shrimp but didnt land anything. We ended up with 23 fish by 4:00. There was a huge flurry of activity from 3:00 to 4:00. That is the best day Ive had on DC in the last couple of years. All were bows.
Today, I headed out to Rainbow Bay again and set up in the same place. Started fishing at 10:30 and wrapped up around 3:00. Finished with 12 bows all of which were 16 inches plus. The best fish of the day was around 19 inches. Very healthy, fat fish that would strip a lot of line.
