Big money derby!
#1
[fishin] Heading to lake Viva Naughton next weekend for the 30th anniversary derby. They are going all out this year to celabrate the 30th with 35k of tagged fish. The nice thing about it is the money is just a bonus at naughton because the action on big bows is always hot. Hope to see some of you there.

there is contact info on the flyer, phone and email. i would suggest a phone call to be sure. don't quote me, but i'm pretty sure they told me through email ( which i deleted) that you could register that morning. i also purchased my WY license online to save time. not to sure how busy Kemmerer is going to be that morning. might want to check availability of rooms as well. fossil butte motel 307-877-3996 best western 877-574-2464 . GOOD LUCK hope to see ya there.

The rumor around Kemmerer is that they are putting 5 Tiger trout in and 3 of them will be tagged. Not sure why but my thought is in case one dies on transport they will have a backup. Anyway they claim that tiger trout should feed within an hour of being released. Fishing has been great there this year. Last week I heard of a 25 inch rainbow. My best bait this year has been a green curly tail jig with a piece of crawler on it. Good luck to all!

I've made a few trips to Naughton this year. It is fishing much better than it has the last few years. It almost reminds me of the Scofield of old. The action is pretty steady with fish showing on the flasher every 10-15-20 minutes. Some are aggressive, some need a little coaxing, and some will look but not bite. I was using jigheads tipped with crawler, and Watta Crickets tipped with crawler. Yes, Watta Crickets! Remember those! They're still producing. There's a picture of one if you don't remember them. Lots of things are working up there this year. Ice was 12-14 inches thick when I was there. No telling how much snow will be up there after these last storms. Go up and have some fun!!!

PS...you can fish the derby all day and then run up to Fontenelle and fish for burbot all night!!!

Snow is Deep in Kemmerer im sure more up at the lake. School is closed today in town. I wanted to go fishing the past 4 days but the snow was to Deep and winds have been up to 45mph gusting last few days and no unnecessary travel up there for the last 4 days. your going to need shovels just to get to the ice we got over 2'+ feet of snow hope the snow has quit for a while
