Went to Cottonwood again yesterday. Got there around 3:00, but not much was going on. Ice was completely gone and the wind was blowing pretty hard from the east. I caught a small bluegill and baby largemouth playing around with a jig and bobber.

The trip wasn't a complete wash though, because I also got a HUGE sucker and a squawfish about 15" on a worm. The sucker was almost 26". Cut squawfish is just about the best bait for channel cats I've found, and sucker isn't far behind. I keep every one I catch. I cut them into 1" chunks and divide them up into baggies with enough bait for one trip. I went from 0 to 8(!) baggies in the freezer.
