Question???
#1
I have 2 strikemaster augers, both hand cranks, a 8 inch and a 10 inch. I am going to try and sell one of them to try and get some money for my fish finder. Just looking for opinions on which one I should keep????

I prefer the 8" just because it's a little easier to drill a hole with.

Where do you fish? You would be amazed at how big a fish will fit through an 8" hole. The 8" auger is going to be easier to drill holes with. So, how thick does the ice get where you fish, how many holes do you drill in an outing, how far do you have to carry it, and how big of fish do you plan on bringing through your hole?

Without hearing your answers, I would suggest the 8". I don't see much of a reason for anything bigger unless you catch lots of 40" muskies, or 35" Lakers...

Everyone tells me the 10" is too hard to crank on when the ice gets thick. If you need a bigger hole do what BLM does, drill a couple next to each other and break it open to create a larger hole

THat is what I figured, just thought I would throw the question out anyway. I actually hate my 10 incher, and not to fond of my 8 incher. I might actually try and sell both of them and get a 6 incher hand crank, or take that money and add to it to get a gas auger. But I desperately need a new fish finder for my boat. Would much rather have that. I usually fish later on the water with deep ice. Fishing mainly for trout. I cant think of anything that I wouldnt be able to get out of a 6 or 8 inch hole in utah???? But with that said, I have probably opened up for alot of people proving that wrong???? I like to ice fish, but would much rather have my boat ready to go for the first time in now 2 1/2 years

thanks for the suggestion!!!!
