I didnt see a need for downriggers. Mine came high in the water column. I saw others having success with dodgers

I've had good success this time of year trolling popgear and a worm in the 30 foot range for browns

Rapalas, spinners, spoons, and kastmasters have been working well for me.

Try using dodgers instead of pop gear. It is much more fun because you feel more of the fish and less drag of the pop gear.

Attach your pop gear to the ball run what ever your pulling off of a stacker clip zero drag.

My personal favorite is dodger, with a fly, probably a olive wooly worm or black wolly bugger. They smack it, they also come off easy. Usually just lipped, nice to release.

Another is just a rapala, floating size 7 or even smaller.

I think they will come up easier, then go down to chase a bait.

Hit DC this morning. Fishing wasn't as hot as last week but still ok. Caught 15 in 3 hours. Beautiful weather though. Still caught the fish on the surface. Spinners and rapalas
