Your take on Strawberry Jigging
#1
Over the years Strawberry has been very good to me, mostly jigging.

Here's the Rub.

Years ago the best for me was a white tube jig OR a white twister tail jig, about 3 to 4 inches.

Then one year on a twister tail, up in a shallow bay, it was a red and green Jig with a red head.

The Rainbow colored Jigs have always done so so.
The White and variants and fallen off.

Then one year it was a purple tube jig.

Lately my go to has be smoke (used to call it motor oil) but more accurately smoke with blue and silver specks.

WHY?

[#0000FF]Fish have poor memories. How can you expect them to remember what they like best?

This is why we all carry 20 colors of plastics and switch around all the time! I wish I could figure this out, but the only pattern I have read/heard that seems to bear out in my experience I read in Outdoor Life as a kid.

It said for sunny days use silver hardware and light colors like chart. and white and yellow, and for overcast days start with brass hardware and purple, black, smoke, and othe dark plastics. SEEMS to bear out a little on crappie and bass.

Hard to get a big enough sample for real scientific analysis.......

It also seems to change from day to day or week to week.

I was there 1 week ago and did really well with little ratties.......was there on Saturday and hardly a nibble on a ratfinkie but they were nailing large Cutter Bugs. or Glow in the dark tube jigs.
