Merc outboard motor question
#1
I have a 75 hp Merc(2011) and seems I have a little problem that just popped up.
Starts quick, no problem idling, no problem with slow acceleration, but when I push quick to full throttle it will hesitate and bog down??

I have a 2009 60 HP. EFI merc. Outboard with the same problem. But only @ high altitude. I have spoken with the dealer ship about this and they told me. That I should put a lower pitch prop on or do a lower unit gear change. For more bottom end torque. I only occasionaly boat above 8000ft. And cant justify the cost for the gear change.[reply][/reply] Good luck.

If this is a new problem , put some Seafoam fuel treatment in .

Might be an electrical problem. Check all your spark plugs and make sure they're all firing.

I agree with Curt, try some Sea Foam. Is your motor a 4 stroke or two stroke? Is this your first time you have had the boat out this year? If it is a 2 stroke and this is the first time having it out for the year, the Sea Foam should fix your problem.

About the fourth time out this year. I think this was the first time that that I actually "punched" it to full throttle. It is a two stroke. Thanks.

This is a common problem with 2 stroke motors that do no use either Stibil(sp?) or Sea Foam. They sit during the Winter and the oil gels in the ports causing problems the next year. It can also happen with 4 stroke motors but isn't as common. A lot of auto stores carry Sea Foam but I usually buy mine at O'Rilley/Checker but Napa and I think Auto Zone carries it. To maintain my engine I use one oz put gallon of gas but to clean a clogged engine I would double that, maybe even triple it if a double doze does not work.

Thanks again. I do use a stabilizer for storage and also when I fill up on and off. I will try the sea foam.

Stabilizer is cheaper to use than Sea Foam and a lot of members use the Marine Stabil because it also helps with the ethnol that is in most gas now days.
