Diversion at Byington
#5
X, tried to watch the video News 8 did but it won't load here at work. Guessing when the canal co put in the rip rap they had a big rock that got away from them and it is sitting in the middle of the channel. Prob won't be an issue once they bring the river up. I know some guys will run it when its lower than 3000FPS but to me there are too many spots that are so shallow it isn't worth tearing your boat up when you can get to most spots by wading. Also something to consider is if you are running an out board the foot sticks down a bit and can get torn off going across a couple of the shelves up there. The worst runs diagonal across the bottom of the S curve just above byington. Its gotten better the last couple years with the gravel bar that has developed on the bottom curve which narrowed the channel keeping more water over the big shelf thats there. But when the water is low it can be pretty tough to get through it with out dragging bottom.
