Muskrat, Chickamauga, crappie - Crappie for Canines, 4-13-14, Debbie
#1
My favorite fishing report to make this year. The "Crappie for Canines" tournament. Fishing summary - lousy. Maybe 25-30 fish with no size to them whatsoever. I think we had 14 keeper fish and they were borderline. We put all of our eggs in one basket on one particular spot and when we came around a point and saw a boat "anchored " on it we just couldn't believe it. We were just sick over it. A couple of guys we knew that fished there last year and it's the first time we had seen them this year. We painfully watched them reel in nice crappie after crappie off of our favorite big stump. We stayed in the vicinity and did catch quite a few smaller ones on a variety of jig colors. We pretty much called it a day around noon because of the wind but Deb did catch a good keeper off of a dock at CFSP while I was stowing gear. I didn't even weigh my fish when I started sorting thru a bunch in the livewell. Just did the eyeball test knowing it wouldn't matter. I want to thank Seth Coleman for letting me borrow a weigh-in bag after mine had a major leak. I'm not sure why I wanted to weigh our puny sack anyway ?

Deb and I were so glad we fished this great tournament. Debbie's son Chad also fished with his partner Brian and they had a pretty good sack. All of us lucked up and won prizes after the weigh-in. The people with GADA...TowBoatUS...and everyone else associated with this benefit were just amazing. It makes us feel very proud to just be in the company of such wonderful people. We saw some old CFF friends and met quite a few new ones. Some guy wearing "crocs" named Dickey Porter...Mike Johnston...Seth Coleman...Bobby Ramsey...Bill Lewis....Jim Edmister...David East, etc. to name a few. I probably talked with some people and didn't even think to ask their CFF names ? I spotted a few more that I wanted to chat with but I was so busy talking with Chris everyone cleared out before I knew it. I was so glad to see Norman ( Labman ) who I hadn't seen in years. I also got a great surprise when Mark ( the maddog ) came up and sat by me. I had hoped he might be there to see the winner of his "maddog masterpiece" jig prize. I guess we chatted for almost 30 minutes. He told me he should be getting back to his normal routine within a week or two...fantastic. emoThumbsup

The event couldn't have been run any better. We know how hard Candi worked and the results really showed. Congrats and thanks to everyone involved with the "Crappie for Canines" tournament.
