Trim gauge not working/setting off alarm
#1
2000 Viper Coral 202, 200 HP Mercury. I switched some gauges around so I could mount my HDS on the console and still see the 'important' gauges. All the gauges still work except for the trim gauge is maxed out and won't move at all. I turned the key on and the alarm behind the ignition started going off. It went off when I disconnected the brown wire from the trim gauge. I double checked to make sure I put everything back together the way I took it out and it all matched up (I took pictures).
Any ideas? Is the gauge bad?

it sounds like you might have zapped the gauge or blown a fuse. when you unhooked the wire the alarm went off, you should always unhook the battery when doing this kind of work. some new electronics can't handle that kind of connect and disconnect. sometimes gauges will max out when their is no ground connection.
