Boat with side console steer
#1
Hey everybody I want to know your experiences with side console steering in a boat. Good? Bad? Balance issues and solutions.

Mine is a side console and I do notice a weight shift not sure what you want to know, but I haven't had any serious issues. Mine is also a semi v so mostly flat bottom and I notice that mostly when there are waves, back end is always moving around.

Try to balance your load the best you can . Gas tank and battery on the opposite side of the steering .

depends on what size of boat you're talking about. i'd say a good 90% of all boats that are set up with a steering console are on the side. smaller narrower boat, yes, you'll notice it. adjust weight/load accordingly. larger wider boats, you won't.

i have a 15' McGregor with a 25 Hp and side console. For a small boat like mine I would now say a tiller is better, the further back the weight is the better you'll be on plane and faster you'll go, only a 1-2 person boat anyway, leave more room in the center for fishing especially if you fly fish.
