new member in North Carolina

Hi! We have decided to become a camping family this summer (purchased our first pop up camper last fall). We are looking to camp and fish in North Carolina. My son fell in LOVE with fishing this weekend after catching his first catfish (5lbs!!) and he is HOOKED. We need advice on kid friendly poles (for 9 and 10 yr olds) what types of lures and bait we need to fish in lakes and pier fishing at the beach.

Might want to try something a bit old fashion like a bamboo Cane pole simple and not a big cost if lost or broken.
