starvation catching report from saturday
#1
went to starvation Saturday the 7th. fishing with a fairly stiff breeze most of the day but it was manageable. water temp was 60 degrees. trolled rabbit gulch and the bridge area most fish caught at 20'. caught about 10 nice bows, 7 walleye in the 15" range and one sweet brown about 20" . kokanee creek light green spinner's tipped with some worm worked best . all in all a pretty fun day catching should improve as water warms. good luck

Thanks for the post and pic Rich. Doesn't sound like the eyes are as big a Willard's but according to another member they are in better condition, what are your thoughts? Water temp is about 10 to 12 degrees cooler and the water is a lot clearer than Willard. I bet there were a lot less bugs there as well.[Wink]

I don't think you can beat WILLARD right now for size and quality of fish . but the bugs at starvation are almost none existent so that's a plus.the average eye is getting bigger, and the bows are world class.it looks like the perch are history for at least the next few years . I know there are big eyes in there I just cant find anything over 22". my self.the eyes where hanging on the edge's of the murky water. you could fish in the clear water and catch bows and move out into the darker water and catch eyes. so that was nice to. and I really enjoy camping there vs Willard. sorry I didn't take more pics but my phone charger died and so did the phone[frown]

We fished it over Memorial day for 5 days and my son landed a 27 1/2 in. 8lb. eye that was released. I took a picture of her with my cell phone but the picture didn't turn out the best (Caught after dark) but I will post it so you all don't think it was a BS story. There are bigger fish than that in there. We didn't catch alot of eyes but enough for a couple meals and took some home, we did have several in the 21 to 22 inch range. The fish are darker colored & heavier fish than Willard's eyes, we will be headed back down on the 18th for 5 days or so.

that's great. I know those big fish are in there I just can't catch them the way I've been fishing . I don't fish at night though. I have caught some bigger ones bottom bouncing a green curly tail . I don't know what i'm not doing but the place is a absolute blast to fish. so maybe I can get lucky
