I hit the Berry at Soldier Creek yesterday with my girlfriend. We did not even get started till after noon. We were shore fishing. Well, the bite was awesome. We immediately started catching rainbows and even one cutt on powerbait. I don't normally fish with powerbait but do so with newbs. We had a blast for the next couple hours until we finished with our limits. Quality of fish was excellent, fat and up to approx 18 inches. Go get 'em and bring the kids!

Sounds great! Did you happen to be shore fishing in an area that would allow a 3 yr kid a little room to run around? Have never been up there so if you can recommend a kid friendly spot that would be awesome.

Sounds like a Great time! How far off the bottom were you floating the bait?
Any pictures of the fish? How did the Girlfriend like fishing?

Was the wind bad I'm going up fri morning but in a boat I can deal with 10 mph and under but much more. I guess I could hide out in the narrows

Kodiak, she has really been enjoying it. It really helps when we slay the fish. But we've also been skunked twice this spring. We were floating the bait 16-20 inches off the bottom on #12 trebles. Weeds are not too bad yet. Their stomachs were gorged with what appeared to be midge larvae. Anybody know what exactly they are?

Potsy, the wind was just a nice breeze. But as you know, there is no guarantees at the Berry. Go early to avoid afternoon t-storms!

Hey Wasatch, you're correct in thinking they are midge larvae. They are Chironommids. Its' a killer way to get after them at the berry. If you ever want to mix it up at the berry, I'd look into it. If you need some pointers hit me up...Fish Mids!
