Friday the 13th proved not to be an unlucky day for us. It was Dr Phillip's day off and so we spent the first 1/2 of the day on the lake since the pros were not fishing today. Foggy start, but good to be on the water with so little traffic. Our first stop proved to be a good choice. It was an off shore spot that is one of my favorites, except we didn't fish the exact spot that I normally fish. We spotted the crappie about 50 to 60 yards away on top of a big stump. So, we put the crazy Ivan on spot lock and proceeded to catch several fish from that area. When they slowed down, we moved.

It was Dr Phil's day today. I gave him a blue thunder 1/16 oz jig with a tail light and he put it on the old Drumking pretty good. I experimented with various colors, but even when I finally put a BT on, he still outfished me. Go figure? emoScratch emoDoh

We fished off shore and vertical structure (which usually means bluffs) emoBig and had a really good day for a change. I caught 3 largemouth bass while he was catching crappie and he landed a good spot that went home with me for dinner tonight. All our fish were deep. Over 20 to 30 feet deep. Nothing shallow today. We did not fish docks. I leave those for the Kid. emoBig

19 keepers out of about 30 fish with 3 being over 13" long. 13.5 was longest. Since Dr Phil caught them, he kept them for his family. He did give me a couple of crappie to go along with the spotted bass. emoBig I hope to do this good in the tournament. I have to get my livewell pump fixed. Leaking water into the bottom of boat. Getting worse all the time. It is where it connects to the livewell and not at the pump. emoBang This may be my last report until I get the leak fixed. emoGeezer
