Pappa's All You Can Eat Shrimp Buffet
#1
To celebrate Daddy's Day - went to Chuckin' Cheeses buffet. Boy when the kids strap on them feed bags, look out! All you can eat shrimp, skip the salad!

Actually went out to Cutler for a couple before sunset, and didn't chuck any cheese, but rather some carp-chunks, and all they could devour shrimp. It was a buffet served-up for sure.
Left the boat behind, and the dog got fixed Friday (she didn't think she was even broke!) - so despite HER pleadings to hop in, left her back. Don't need wet muddy stitches.

Had barely pitched a line, and was setting out a chair when - ping - bobber down. First fiesty cat gave me a run. Trying to hoist her into the net, realized I've got a case of Tennis Elbow, must have been brought on by too much tugging on the pull chord.

Then the bottom line took a run, and another cat came to visit. They were keeping me so busy I never got a chance to sit in the chair and crack any cold bubblies even. But that's ok, the feast was on.

Decided to shuffle along the shore and work some new reeds, and it paid off, then did it again as things slowed a little. They were hitting hard, and were not shy about loading up their plates. Nabbed a couple more, then big-mamma came to play. Cat of the day measured in a hulky 26 inches. And a big fat girth on this bird.

Towards dusk the swarms of skeeters decided they were getting hungry too, so figured it was time to bus the plates, and bust on out. Had a limit today in a couple hours, and the biggest and smallest went swimming, with a couple coming home to try the cornmeal dip. Cats ranged from 20-26, with most about the 24mark. But even the littlest one took a leap skyward and put up a feisty fight for a youngin. Think it was ready for the desert bar.

Not a bad day to get out for a bit.

Great post! Looks like the kitties were hungry. That's a good way to spend fathers day.

Nice fish Yote, so did you try the Masters spot? This farming is tough on a fishing habit, sure wanted to get out after the fish, but I stayed focused and resisted. Sure hope I get caught up soon. Been wanting to try the shake down cruise on that new toon really bad, but guess I'll wait awhile. Anyway congrats, glad you got a fun trip. Later J

Nice! That's the way it was for me early in the morning on the floatilla day. About 15-20 as quick as I could get em out. Glad you got em like that! I've never had it that fast from shore for channel cats on cutler, always needed a boat for some reason.

Well, it was after mowing, trimming, weeding and prepping for the folks impending visit.
Couldn't get my little bump-on-a-log to DO anything WITH Daddy, so - opted to give her what she wanted - the house to herself.

Jeff - when you say "Masters" = golf reference? I think of Doctor Who myself... I was thinking about you when I heard Pink Floyd come across my Pandora feed.
"Ya can't have any fishing if you don't plant your Wheat!"

Benson Marina was sure busy, numbers of cars around the bridge, several boat trailers in the lot. Good thing I keep going... little dive I like to hit. Ghosttown when I left. I'd thought of hitting the river, see if some Crappie or Bass wanted to play. Maybe some warm afternoon (when it's not SO windy!)

Alrighty then Mike - so THAT explains why it was so quiet for the gang, you'd already stirred up the muck downstream! haha.

I think you were right in suggesting they are on-to-spawn now. Granted, it's a staggered party event, but seems the location and condition, they're filling their dance cards. Really didn't see much for carp this outing, which was a surprise. Didn't get pestered by a single mudcat either, which was a pleasure!

I'd be curious to know (roughly) where you were getting the early morning bite so hot. And was it - like - before light? You did have an early-early start! (don't have to answer here, a pm would be welcome)

I just have some theories about channel movement, and seems like my bank-locations have been HOT in the later afternoon, but then quiet down at dusk. I'm suspecting a migratory pattern in place.

When I said masters I meant the Catmaster's spot that you have fished a little this year. Hope I can get my work done so I can get back after them. Hate missing this time of year when the cats like to play. Later J
