I will be heading up to the Gorge in a few days and I was wondering if anybody has been fishing for burbot lately. I seen all the reports on the kokes and rainbows but I was going to try for something a little different. Thanks, any advice would be helpfull. I know how to catch them ice fishing, its probably the same way out of a boat?

Yes, it is exactly the same as ice fishing. The big difference is you can move quickly if your not catching them in one location. They tend to be in deeper water during the day, this time of the year but they still move up into the shallows as it get dark. Look for rocky points and tip your glow jig with meat. There seems to be more fish up the lake from Buckboard. Good luck and let us know how you do.

In Wyoming it's currently illegal to use artificial light to attract fish, so if you do use your lights make sure you're on the Utah side of the reservoir. Like Wiperhunter suggested, there's higher densities of burbot up north on the WY side, and use the same techniques to catch them that you would apply during icefishing. Burbot will most likely be deeper (>30ft) and less active than they are during the winter months.
Good luck, Ryno
