I am going to Pueblo this week to do some trout fishing and would appreciate any advice on gear. I am buying my first rod and reel this week and will probably us it mostly for rainbow trout.

Hey Mark,
Glad you made it to the website, an ultra light set up will work best, I'll dig up some combo packages and post them here for you to check out.

I agree with theangler on the ultralight setup although I really like the St.Croix lite fast for trout and smallmouth.
I also agree with him on getting a combo unless your wanting to spend at least $200 or there abouts. Buying a combo Saves money, saves thinking and offers a good back up in future. just make sure it feels good to you.
I have a 5' combo labeled light&fast but it handles more like an ultralight xfast, its rated for 1/64-1/8oz lures and come with a size 10 reel. I got it on sale for $50 plus the #10 power pro, so around $65 and honestly its a jewel for trout. I use 1/16oz jigs and 2"grubs/tubes 75% of the time.
If your encountering rough territory or are hard on gear naturally, consider the 4'8"ugly stik ultralight combo. I seen they had them at Walmart for $40 but they are $50 normally.
Daiwa puts out nice economy ultralight and light combos in fiberglass and graphite.
