Hyrum Ice

Hyrum Reservoir now has a cap on it, but I'm sure it's not safe ice yet. Here's a picture from my web cam.

Thanks for the report RNL. I can't wait to walk/fish it!!! Question though, is all that 12" of snow on the ice or did the snow turn to slush on the ice? I think it will make a big difference in how fast the ice gets solid.

It looks kind of slushy out there today and there are a couple open spots in the middle with lots of geese and seagulls on them. It's probably going to develop kind of a cruddy layer on the bottom instead of a nice strong layer of clear ice. It may be a while yet before it's safe.

I checked the ice out today at Hyrum and all that is out there is slush. About 6 inches of sloppy (somewhat icy) slush. It still needs some cold weather.
